The Group’s Name

We are forming the new legal structure and applying qualitatively new and higher level standards and we believe that it is necessary to mark the algorithm of our Group’s practice in its name.

The name PRINCIPIUM was chosen because it meets the Group’s objectives and internal structure.

Principium is a Latin word that means beginning, basis or founder and its root princip is widely used in the Roman Law. There are two notions in PRINCIPIUM – principle and um in Russian, which means intellect in English. They most clearly and deeply characterize the spirit and motto of our Group.

These concepts have a special historical meaning for the Russians, because this was the name which Peter the Great gave to the first Russian war ship marking thus the construction of the Russian Navy. Some years later this was the ship Principium where he wrote the first Articles of the Navy and its crew carried impregnable Azov. Peter the Great expanded the borders of Russia and broke new grounds of victories sailing this very ship. We associate ourselves with the desire for victories, new discoveries and achievements, firmness in attaining the set goals. The staff of our Group positions itself as a creative highly organized team of professionals that is able to successfully deal with challenges of any difficulty in higher responsibility conditions and to show horizons of law in its different directions.

We build relations with our partners based on the principles of responsibility, good conscience, openness and proficiency. Our views and principles develop, improve and adjust according to the needs of our customers, reality and trends of the developing legal market. From our point of view the new principles are the foundation for successful development of the Group PRINCIPIUM.
